SRINAGAR, May 10 : Minister for Haj, Auqaf, Floriculture and Public Enterprises, Peerzada Mohammad Sayee-d said that the government has initiated various steps to make the Kokernag area a fascinated tourist destination. This was stated by the Minister while addressing a meeting convened here to discuss the modalities for giving face-lift to the Kokernag town and its adjoining area including Mughal and Botanical gardens. It was decided that 60 affected shopkeepers of the area would be provided shops under rehabilitation policy for which the funds to the tune of Rs. 76 lakh were provided by Border Road Organization for the construction of these shops. The shops constructed by Urban Local Bodies would also be utilized under the rehabilitation policy as per the norms of allotment. The deserving beneficiaries of the area would be provided financial assistance under ISHDP for constructing dwelling units, the meeting was informed. The issues relating to distribution of cheques under ISHDP, requirement of vehicle, sucker, JCV, tipper, and pick-up van, measures taken to dispose-off garbage of Municipal Committee, Kokernag and provision of furniture and fixture for Town Hall, Kokernag were discussed threadbare during the meeting. Among others, Director, Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir Mr. Shafat Noor, Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag Dr .Farooq Ahamd Lone, Additional Commissioner, Kashmir, Joint Director, Planning and Executive Engineer, Urban Local Bodies and Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Kokernag attended the meeting. |
