| Government developing college infrastructure: Lone | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, May 13: Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone today said that government is developing and upgrading the educational infrastructure in the State and various initiatives have been taken in this regard. Mr. Lone exhorted upon college teachers to adopt innovative measures besides providing quality education based on modern methods to the students. He also stressed for imparting extra-curricular activities besides inculcating moral and ethical values among them. This was stated by the Minister while inspecting the site which has been identified for the construction of additional blocks for the College. Mr. lone directed the DGM J&K Housing Board to prepare the DPR and take up the work accordingly, so that long pending demand of upgrading the college infrastructure is fulfilled urgently. During his visit, the Minister inspected various blocks of the College including Main block, Science Laboratories, Physical Education block, Botanical Garden. He also inspected various class rooms and interacted with the students and asked about the facilities being provided to them. On the occasion, the College Principal Prof. Tasleem Peer apprised the Minister about various activities being provided by the college to the students. Mr. Lone asked the Principal to make proposal for immediate repairs and necessary requirements in the existing building of the college so that students do not face any difficulty or any shortcomings in the college in future. He also enjoined upon the college teachers to monitor and organize the classes in effective manner. Later, the Minister addressed a large gathering of students in auditorium of the college. The Minister said that he feels happy to visit this historical college of the valley and wished that the college becomes exemplary model for all the colleges of the State. A deputation of local fund employees also called upon the Minister and put forth their demands before him. The Minister gave patient hearing to them and assured that issues will be looked into for consideration. |
