| DC reviews arrangements for Baba Chamlayal mela | | | Early Times Report
SAMBA, May 15: Deputy Commissioner Samba ,R.K Varma on Wednesday had a meeting with concerned officers to review necessary arrangements for ensuing Annual Congregation at Baba Chamlayal Shrine to be held in the last week of June during his visit to the revered Shrine. The Baba Chamlayal Shrine which is situated on zero line of Indo-Pak border and thronged by thousands of pilgrims from both the sides of India and Pakistan during the annual congregation known for its earth (Shakar )and water for healing the skin problems. The members of local Shrine Committee attended the meeting. The DDC took stock of arrangements like water supply, power supply, healthcare facilities, security etc. to be put in place during the mela. He asked the committee members to ensure the face-lifting of the entire complex of shrine besides making necessary arrangements of sanitation. He enjoined upon the concerned officers to provide full cooperation to the committee members to make the event a grand success. Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bikram Jamwal, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Ashwani Khajuria and other senior officers attended the meeting. Later, the DDC also reviewed the pace of construction work on school buildings being established under SSA and RMSA in a meeting which was attended by Chief Education Officer, Executive Engineer, PWD(R&B) Samba and all the Zonal Education Officers. It was informed in the meeting that work on 51 school buildings is in construction under SSA while 10 High School buildings are being constructed under RMSA. The DDC impressed upon the Chief Education Officer to personally monitor the construction of primary school buildings under SSA on fortnightly basis and ensure that all the in-progress buildings are completed during the current financial year. In case of schools where the land is not available, he asked the CEO to visit the sites and hold meetings with Village Education Committees and resolve the issues. It was further informed in the meeting that 3 High School buildings taken up under RMSA Phase-I at Mawa, Beri and Meen Sarkar in Phase – II, will be completed during the current financial year. |
