| Dental Council of India recognizes IGGDC, Jammu--Taj Expresses gratitude to Azad | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 15: Asserting that government has evolved an effective mechanism to ensure enhanced medicare in the state, Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Taj Mohu-ud-Din on Wednesday said that all the healthcare institutions especially in rural and far-off pockets are being equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities besides adequate staff.
The Minister was speaking at a function jointly organized by Government Medical College and Indira Gandhi Government Dental College Jammu in connection with recognition of IGGDC by Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare, at GMC.
Principal and Dean GMC, Jammu, Dr. Shashi Gupta, Medical Superintendent, Government Dental College Hospital, Dr. Mohan Singh, Administrator, GMC, Dr. Reva Gupta, Medical Superintendent GMC, Dr. Rabinder Rattan Pal, faculty members of JMC, IGGDC, AMC and students were present on the occasion.
Congratulating the students and faculty members, the Minister said that the recognition of the college by the Dental Council of India was a long pending demand of the people of Jammu which has now been fulfilled with the efforts of Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad.
The Minister apprised that the Dental College building is under construction for which the government has sanctioned an amount of Rs. 90 crore and the work would be completed soon. At present, the dental college has 9 departments with modern machinery and equipments as per the requirements of Dental Council of India which are providing specialized oro-dental health care treatment to the people of the state round the clock.
The Minister said that with the completion of the Dental College, the students of Jammu can avail the advantage of post graduate and other allied courses in their own state. He said that it is the endeavor of the state government to provide sufficient funds for completion of dental hospital in a stipulated time frame.
Later, the Minister enquired about the status of construction work of OPD block and sanitation in GMC and associated hospitals. He was apprised that all the necessary works are being carried out on war footing in the hospitals for providing hygienic atmosphere to the patients.
The College authorities putforth their demands which included creation of additional 30 House Surgeon posts, payment for purchase of furniture for auditorium and administrative block of IGDC, canteens in the hospital, redesignation of para-dental posts, revision of wages paid to employees of outsourced security personal, allowing students of the college to visit some block to be attached with this institution for field training and electronic metering of the college for actual payment.
The Minister assured them their demands would be examined and fulfilled on priority. |
