SRINAGAR, May 24: Mr. N. N. Vohra, Governor, has said that systematic hard work and a clear and positive approach and suitable guidance would contribute towards success in the All India Civil Services Examination.
The Governor was interacting here today with the students who have registered themselves, for undergoing coaching for taking the Civil Services Examination, at the Centre for Career Planning and Counselling at the Kashmir University.
The Governor reiterated that the youth of the Jammu and Kashmir State have very high potential if provided the appropriate opportunities and called upon them to work hard so that a sizeable number of them could get selected for the All India Civil Services and other superior openings at the national level. Expressing happiness over the progressive increase, every passing year, in the number of boys and girls from J&K who are joining the All India and Central Services, he said that he has great expectations from the youth of the State. He observed that if they worked hard J&K has the potential to be one of the first three States in the country. He advised the students to make the best use of all the available opportunities, particularly the very well stocked library of the Kashmir University.
Referring to the need for setting up a residential coaching centre at the Kashmir University, the Governor said that the Vice Chancellor had already taken up this matter and he shall discuss this with the Union Human Resource Development Minister during his forthcoming visit to the State.
Referring to the activities of the Centre for Career Planning and Counselling of the Kashmir University, the Governor was happy to be informed that in the past year over 600 students of the University had secured placements in the leading corporate houses. He suggested to the Vice Chancellor to arrange interaction of the boys and girls undergoing coaching at this Counselling Centre with those who have qualified for the All India Civil Services from the State this year and, besides, arrange lectures on relevant themes by experts, for the benefit of the students.
This was followed by a lively question-answer session during which the Governor shared his experiences with the students and gave some suggestions to them about how to get through in the competitive examinations. He observed “you are very lucky to have all the opportunities and you have to make the best use of these”, and urged them to firmly resolve that they shall succeed notwithstanding any constraints which they may face. Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, Kashmir University, thanked the Governor, who is Chancellor of the Kashmir University, for taking keen interest in the growth of the University.
