| Soz dedicates modernized Post Office at Bandipora | | | early times report
BANDIPORA, May 24:As a part of on-going Post Office Fest- 2013, a modernised Bandipora Post Office under Project Arrow and modernised Sopore Post Office were dedicated to public. The Project Arrow Bandipora Post Office was dedicated by Prof. Saif-ud-din Soz, Member Parliament in presence of Mr. Nizam-ud-din Bhat, MLA Bandipora, MLC Mr. G.N. Monga and Mr. John Samuel, Chief PMG, J&K.
Several senior officers of State administration and Postal Department were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion at Bandipora, Prof. Soz expressed happiness over the Modernisation of Bandipora Post Office adding that it will serve the people better with latest needs. He said that in the recent years Post Office has been involved in the development of its services on a large scale
under the leadership of present Chief PMG. He added that people should take an urge in developing the Post Offices as they are one of the oldest institutions. He said that money in Post Offices is secure and people should invest here. Post Offices still bear a personal touch which doesn't exist in banks and other financial institutions. He assured that Post Offices will be provided full cooperation from the people and the government.
Nizam-ud-din Bhat also expressed his views on the establishment of Post Office. He said that Post Offices have major role in the development of infrastructure and desired that more Post Offices should be opened, especially in far-flung areas to facilitate the rural people where internet and latest facilities are not available. He appreciated the drive of the Central Government for strengthening the network of post offices across the State.
John Samuel maintained that there has been major growth in Post Offices services and during last year the revenue from Post Offices has grown by 34%. He announced that new Post Office will be established at Wullar shortly. Further, he added that Gurez Post Office will be modernized for the benefit of public at the earliest.
On the occasion, the Chief Postmaster General's awards for the best Postman and best Post Offices in Bandipore district were given by Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz in the form of Gold Coins.
M. Y. Zargar, Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora underlined the importance of Post Offices and said that presence of post offices is still relevant and shall always remain as these are traditional institutions and people have great faith on them.
