Tara Chand reviews status of various on-going school projects
Constitutes committees for probing illegal appointments

SRINAGAR, May 24: Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Tara Chand convened a high-level officers meeting to review the overall scenario of Education Department and the pace of progress of various on-going school complexes under RMSA and SSA, here today.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Education, Hardesh Kumar, Director, RMSA, H. A. Parray, Director School Education Kashmir, Tariq Ali, Director SSA, S. C. Sahni and Joint Director Planning.
While reviewing the construction work of school buildings, the meeting decided to hire the services of 3rd party monitoring group to supervise the pace of progress and to ensure quality standards. The meeting was informed that Government has already taken up 3rd party evaluation of the damages caused to school infrastructure in various districts of Jammu division due to recent earthquake.
The matter with regard to creation of number of vacancies due to recent promotion of teachers also came under discussion and Deputy Chief Minister directed the officers to take immediate steps to fill these vacancies so that the studies of the students do not hamper.
Taking serious note of the complaint regarding illegal appointments in district Budgam, Deputy Chief Minster ordered an enquiry through Vigilance Organisation to extract the facts. He said Government will take stern action against the culprits after the findings.
On the occasion, he constituted two committees for Jammu and Kashmir provinces, which will probe into the illegal appointments from 2002 till date. Directors School Education will be the Chairmen of the Committee, while as Deputy Director Planning, Chief Accounts officer, Principal DIET and Planning officers will be the members of the Committees.
Mr. Tara Chand also directed the HoDs to make assessment of other available vacancies and take immediate steps for recruitment against these vacancies. He said that zero pendency should be assured so that the department of education functions smoothly and quality of education is upgraded.
Deputy Chief Minister directed for issuing a circular to all Chief Education Offices for recruitment of educated unemployed youth under ReT scheme near LoC and RBA category holders and also as General Line Teachers.
Secretary Education on this occasion briefed the meeting about the steps taken for bringing improvement in the educational system of the State and also for assuring quality education in Government schools.
