Gandhian principles relevant for equitable society: Dr. Manohar

SRINAGAR, June 12: Underlining need for taking forward the Gandhian Movement, Minister of State for Cooperatives, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma has said that communalism is the biggest challenge in the country and asked Gandhi Global Family (GGF) volunteers to work for welfare of humans and humanity.
The Minister was addressing a Gandhian Global Family’s Summit here today.
National Vice President of GGF, S. P. Verma, Chief Conservator of Forests, L. K. Sharma besides hundreds of volunteers belonging to different walks of life were present on the occasion.
Appreciating the efforts of the organization for holding the Summit, the Minister said that this will provide an opportunity to new volunteers to know more about the role of the organization.
Highlighting the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi, the Minister said that Bapu, all along his life, spread the message of non-violence, equality and peace.
He said that war is not solution of the any problems, adding that dialogue is the best way for resolving the issues. He said Volunteers have to understand the Gandhian philosophy properly to become a true follower of Gandhian ideology.
Dr Sharma said the topics; peace, employment and environment, choses for the day are directly associated with the society and asked the organization to conduct more such programmes in near future.
S. P. Verma while speaking on the occasion highlighted the role of the organization and asked the volunteers to expand the activities of the organization so that more people join the movement. He said Ghulam Nabi Azad recently flagged off a delegation of GGF from Jammu to UK,US and Canada.
He said the delegation will also participate in the Independence Day celebration of Canada in Ottawa and USA in Washington DC with proposed meeting with the respective Senators.
Voultaneers from Srinagar, Baramulla, Bandipora, Kulgam, Anantnag, Shopian, Pulwama, Baramulla, Kathua, Jammu, Udhampur participated in the Summit and spoke on the occasion.
