“No Child Labour” Day observed at Anantnag

ANANTNAG, June 12: “No Child Labour” Day was observed at Dak Bungalow Anantnag here today, District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone was the chief guest on the occasion. The event was organized by NGOs Save the Children and South Kashmir Federation of Industrialists (SKFI) in collaboration with J&K Yateem Trust and District Child Protection Advisory Group. Chairman of SKFI, noted academician Prof. A. G. Madhosh and Patron of South Kashmir Civil Society Prof A.G.Mir were present on the occasion.
The need of discouraging child labour for the sake of our future generations was emphasized on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, DDC lauded the industrial and civil society groups for their enthusiasm towards protection of children from working at hazardous places at the delicate stage where they need to be counseled and educated with utmost care for ensuring better future of the humanity adding that this is an indicator of awareness of industrial fraternity of Anantnag because most of the cases of child labour are related with the industrial activity in one or the other way. He ensured the civil society and other participants of full support for eradication of child labour in the district.
Noted academician Prof A.G Madhosh quoted some eye opening examples of two European countries Switzerland and Austria where 70 percent of the education is being imparted through Vocational Centres. He suggested the modern community for establishing these vocational centers where the inmates receive skill development education in addition to moral education. He reiterated upon the society to become more aware about the problems being faced by the children for seeing a better tomorrow. Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Deputy Director Employment, District Social Welfare Officer, Anantnag were present on the occasion.
