| Deliver best, exploit skills of new generation: Lone | | Lone Visits GDC Shopian | | Rs 18 crore being spent for the upgradation of GDC Shopian Early Times Report
SHOPIAN, June 12: Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone today visited Government Degree College Shopian and took stock of the construction work of new science block being constructed at a cost of 4.12 crore He also took stock of functioning of college activities and facilities being provided to the students of the college. Mr. Lone was informed that besides 8 room lecture hall for which 5.35 crore are being spent, the college auditorium and the additional academic block will be constructed at a cost of Rs 5.06 crore and Rs 7.55 crore respectively so that students of the area are benefited. The Minister was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Mr. Mohammad Javed Khan, Principal of the college, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Chirag, Mr. Shabir Ahmad Kulay and officers of R&B and other concerned agencies. During the visit the Minister directed the concerned executing agencies to ensure quality of the work and expedite the construction work within the stipulated time. Mr. Lone said that the construction work for the additional block and the auditorium for the college will be taken in hand soon which will help to cater the intake capacity and long pending demands of the area. While interacting with the college authorities and students Mr. Lone emphasized upon the faculty members to deliver their best to the students and exploit their skills and experience by adapting modern techniques. He assured them that the college will be equipped with all the necessary facilities. He directed the college principal to procure medical and first aid facilities in the college. On the occasion, Mr. Lone made announcement of providing one ambulance to the college so that its services could be utilized in the college in case of any accidental situation. Later, Mr. Lone also visited the Jamia Siraj-ul-Aloom Hillow Imam Sahib, Shopian where he had an interaction with the management, staff and students of the institution. The Minister hailed the efforts of the administration for creating such infrastructure besides providing quality education. Mr. Lone highlighted the importance of moral and ethical education. He said for the respect of human values both the religious and academics play pivotal role so it is the need of hour to inculcate the moral education among the students besides providing them with the modern education. |
