MUMBAI, June13:When Rohan Jagtap (25) set out to give his physical tests for Mumbai police's recruitment of constables on the morning of June 6, little did he know that it would land him in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Mulund's Fortis hospital.
"He was suffering from severely low platelet count and his liver is also badly affected as he was sitting in the heat for several hours. Jagtap is also bleeding from the gastro-intestinal tract and had to be shifted to another hospital for further treatment," said Dr Vidya Thakur, medical superintendent of Rajawadi hospital, where he underwent his initial treatment.
Separately, two more candidates were admitted to the ICU ward of Rajawadi hospital after suffering from severe dehydration yesterday.
Anil Nanaware (21) and Rahul More (24) are currently undergoing treatment in the hospital. Doctors stated that their condition is stable. Jagtap and nine other aspirants were admitted to Rajawadi last week after they complained of giddiness following a five-km run during their physical tests.
They were discharged on Wednesday. A doctor at the Mulund hospital said that Jagtap's condition is still critical.
"His body temperature rose as he was called to the Railway police quarters maidan at 6.30 am but the physical tests did not start until 10 am," his brother Omkar said. |
