| Earn more and make the JKSRTC a profitable venture: Ramzan | | JKSRTC workers Union convention held at Parimpora | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, June 13: Stressing the need for maintaining coordination among various units of the Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) Minister for Transport and Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Ch. Muhammad Ramzan today instructed the employees and workers to work in a coordinated manner for making the Corporation a profitable venture. The Minister was addressing a day long convention organized by the JKSRTC Workers Union at Cargo Headquarters, Parimpora. Former Minister and Provincial President National Conference Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani also addressed the gathering. MLA Sopore Mr. Muhammad Ashraf Ganai and Managing Director, JKSRTC Mr. J. S. Tondon were also present on the occasion. “It is your Corporation and it is your collective responsibility to work for its development” the Minister told workers and added that the benefits of improved financial health of the Corporation will itself percolate down to the employees. He stressed for making the Corporation viable and profitable and assured full support from the Government for strengthening and expanding its orbit of business. The Minister said that the Government undertaking and corporation are at present in competition with the private sector and they have to exhibit their skill and managerial capacity to make their mark in open market and ensure economic viability of the undertakings. He said Government is making all-out effort to provide full support by way of equipment, finances, training and infrastructure development to the government undertaking and corporation to improve their functioning and achieve new heights. While addressing the gathering the Former Minister, Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani, highlighted the role of Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah in the Development of the Corporation maintaining that endeavor always remains that this corporation is supported through whatever means possible. Chairman JKSRTC workers Union, Mr. Mehraj-u-Din and other trade union leaders also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the problems being faced by the employees and workers while discharging their duties. The Chairman submitted a charter of demands which include grants of 80% DA on the pattern of other government employees, clearance of pending liabilities on account of 6th pay commission, releasing of pending COLA slabs, implementation of SRO 43 in the Corporation and expansion of fleet and releasing of benefits under VRS and GHS. Responding to the demands the Minister said that the fleet of SRTC in the State will expanded soon for which government has taken up the matter with the Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited for sanctioning of loan adding that as soon as the loan is sanctioned, the Government will purchase 200 to 300 buses and put them on the roads as the Government is committed to provide best transport service to the people of the State. Regarding other demands the Minister assured that genuine demands will be taken up at the appropriate forums. |
