| BJP urges people to donate generously for Uttarakhand victims | | | Jammu, June 27 : Bharatiya Janata Party Wednesday urged the people of the State to donate generously for the victims of massive flood-hit Uttarakhand. Seeking donations to help the Uttarakhand flood victims at Bantalab, BJP State Vice President appealed to the people of the State to contribute generously for the affected people. Vibodh said that the hundreds of people died at Uttarakhand and whereabouts of thousands of people is not known and called it an national disaster. "Noting but the restoration of infrastructure in the region will be a monumental task and there is a huge impact to local people whose homes and livelihoods have completely been destroyed," he said as a token of solidarity and our responsibility to help the needy, the BJP is seeking donations to raise a relief fund. District President Sukhdev Singh said that the main task of their efforts is to get the people a roof over their heads, and to repair their schools and hospitals. He said that the floods have severely affected the Char Dham pilgrimage sites of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri and thousands of pilgrims who travelled to the site have been stranded for several days without food or water. He praised the role if Army whose valiant efforts saved the thousands of lives. Prominent among the others who were present on the occasion were district general secretaries Omi Khajuria and Suraj ji and block president Hans Raj Manhas. |
