Extensive Survey to identify poor girls for socio-economic upliftment

REASI, June 27: A comprehensive survey is being conducted for identification of poor girls in rural and urban areas of district for socio-economic upliftment and educational improvement through various centrally sponsored schemes and state schemes. The survey will be completed in 20-25 days at panchayat level. This was decided in a meeting of inter-departmental coordination committee chaired by District Development Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary here today. Assistant Commissioner Development and District Social Welfare Officer have been nominated as nodal officers for identification of poor girls. It was decided that village panchayats will be organised where all the residents of area will assemble besides officials of Revenue, Social Welfare, Statists & Evaluation and Rural Development Department will participate for a fair and transparent process of identification of poor girls village wise and panchayat wise. The benefits of centrally sponsored schemes will be extended to the identified target groups of poor girls as per the guidelines of BPL. Additional District Development Commissioner will personally monitor the panchayat sammelan organised for identification of poor girls in district.
Block Development Officers were directed by the DDC for completing the process on war footing in a fair manner. It was also instructed the brochures of various centrally sponsored schemes for women shall be translated in Urdu and Hindi and distributed in villages.
Tehsildars will act as Nodal Officers at Tehsil level.
