| Dr Kotwal reviews pace of progress on WSS Naigad | | | KISHTWAR, July 7: Commissioner Secretary PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Dr. Pawan Kotwal today conducted on the spot inspection of the source and alignment of Naigad Water Supply Scheme project Dr. Kotwal, who is on two day visit to this district, was accompanied by DDC Kishtwar, Saleem Mohammad, SE Hydraulic Division Doda, Mr. A.K Pradhan, X EN PHE Kishtwar, Mohammad Wahid Zargar and other officers. The team of officers visited Baghana village in Nagseni Block and afterwards covered a distance of 10 Kms on foot passing through the villages of Bhatan, Dimji, Seri, Dachala and reached the source of Naigad water scheme. Enroute to the water source, Dr. Kotwal minutely inspected all the aspects of the scheme including the laying of pipes, alignment, the type of rocks and soil and the local issues involved in the project. He issued on spot instructions to the officials present to ensure proper and time bound execution of the scheme. On reaching the source of Naigad Water Scheme at Dachala, the Commissioner Secretary examined all the details of the project keenly. He stressed on first of all taking up the development of water source and observed that the design of source should be perfect and upto the mark envisaging use of modern technology. He directed the officials to get the GPS coordinates of the area and first of all start development of the water source at the Naigad . He asked them to use best quality of pipes with steel cases and also incorporate SCADA System node after every kilometer. “The pipes should be laid underground upto the depth of one metre. The designing and the soil testing should be done properly”, he asserted. He stressed on the involvement of the local people in the execution of the scheme and asked the officials to form monitoring committees comprising of local people and panchayat members for the effective implementation of project. On the demand of local population, he directed the officials to prepare minor irrigation projects for the local people. He categorically said that the adjoining villages must get water from the Naigad scheme and no one should be excluded. He also asked the Department to prepare a Flood Control Scheme for Gumai Nag flowing through the region. He said that this Rs. 34 Crore project is prestigious for the State and no stone will be left unturned to implement it in letter and spirit. A task force will be formed by district Administration to properly monitor the scheme. The contractor for Naigad has already started work on the scheme. |
