SRINAGAR, July 7: Asserting that the Government has put in place an effective and viable mechanism for ensuring the sustained and need based development of the State, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar has said that besides putting in place a vibrant Panchayati Raj System (PRS) for accelerating the developmental process, effective decentralization of powers to these institutions has also been ensured.

The Minister said that it has been the endeavour of the Government to ensure that the infrastructural capacity building of the PRS is ensured and in this regard several Panchayat Garhs have been constructed across the State, so that the necessary augmentation of the same is ensured. He said that due care has been taken to fully empower the Panchayats with powers of 14 vital departments and a senior officer has been nominated to monitor the same.
Mr Sagar said that the people are fully aware of the developmental process initiated by the government for ensuring needs based and sustained development of the State. These developmental initiatives have changed the socio-economic profile of the rural and far flung areas and the state as a whole, he said. “Some parties are trying to mislead the people by spreading falsehood, flouting obnoxious ideas and hypocrisy.
