SRINAGAR, July 18 : At least 24 shops were gutted in a massive blaze that broke out at around 2 am in a market in North Kashmir's Kupwara District. Reports said, authorities pressed 15 fire tenders on service to dousethe fire. However, Jamia Masjid near the business hub was saved. Following the incident panic gripped in the Sogam area of the district when fire erupted in main market and within no time engulfed major portion of it According to locals, fire which erupted during midnight spread across the market and damaged more than shops. Locals in the area said said that fire has done extensive damage to the main commercial area of Sogam. "The fire damaged nearly 27 shops completely and also fire affected Jamia Masjid of the area," he said. |
