| Emphasizes on post placement monitoring and support 819000 youth to be trained in 2013-14, 5 new PIAs added | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, July 18 : Expressing satisfaction with the progress of HIMAYAT programme for youth, Chief Secretary, Mohammad Iqbal Khanday Thursday said that it has become instrumental in changing lives of hundreds of young boys and girls belonging to low income families and with lower educational qualification and given them confidence with sense of security in the job market. Chairing the Coordination Committee meeting to review the progress of HIMAYAT scheme in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Secretary emphasized the need to ensure that each youth is continuously monitored after training and placement so that they are provided support and guidance during their initial post placement period. Under HIMAYAT one lakh school drop outs and under graduate youth from all over J&K are to be provided placement linked skill training in various trades in good demand in the job market over a five year period. After training youth are being offered placements in food retail chains, BPOs, Retail Marts, Hospitality Sector, Electricity, Pharma Sales Assistant etc within and outside the State. The meeting was informed that during 2012-13 as many as 7000 youth have been trained in various skills as per the set target, with most of them placed and are working in service sector at various places and during this year as many as 19000 youth are going to be trained under HIMAYAT. In addition to the four existing Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) which act as training partners and identify job available in the market and conduct training as per the job requirements, five new PIAs have been selected to work under HIMAYAT in the State and sanctioned projects for starting their training from this year. It was further informed that Ministry of Rural Development has enhanced the post placement support available to the youth to Rs. 12000 @ Rs. 2000 per month for six months for youth who undergo three months training under the scheme. The meeting was attended by Joint Secretary MoRD,GoI, Mr. Santosh Mathew, Principal Secretary, Planning and Development, Mr. B.R. Sharma, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. B.B. Vyas, Commissioner Secretary Rural Development Farooq Ahmad Peer, Regional Heads of HIMAYAT Mission Management Unit Mr Manick Raj and Ms Yogita Rana, Director EDI M I Parray, Representatives of PIAs and other senior officers. |
