PDTU demands special monitoring system for Mid Day meal scheme

Jammu : Taking cue from the unfortunate Mid Day Meal disaster, J&K People's Democratic Trade Union (PDTU) District President, Jasmeet Singh Madaan has demanded the constitution of "Special Monitoring Team" comprising eminent doctors, dieticians, nutritionist, food inspectors and persons from Food Testing Laboratory to check the mid- day meals. "It has come to the notice of President that many students have developed serious ailments and one student from Bakshi Nagar has lost his kidney because of daily consumption of momos and his treatment is going on in PGI Chandigarh at present", he said. He further said, "There is a dire need of crackdown on these "Momoswalla" who are using rotten vegetables, rotten tomatoes and is openly selling it without any fear under the nose of Health authorities."
Madaan said, "It is a high time for the administration to wake up from the deep slumber and constitute the "Special Monitoring Team" with "Special Powers" on war footing so that Bihar type incident donot recur again and valuable loss of lives can be saved by taking preventive measures."
