Manohar Lal conducts extensive tour of Billawar

KATHUA: Minister of State for Fisheries, Cooperatives, Finance and Planning Dr Manohar Lal Sharma conducted an extensive tour of tehsil Billawar.
Assistant Commissioner (Dev) Kathua, SDM Billawar, SDPO Basohli, Dy CEO Billawar also accompanied the Minister during the tour.
At Ghatt Dr Manohar Lal Sharma laid foundation of additional rooms at upgraded Government Middle School Ghatt and announced Rs 1 lakh for ground levelling and repair of the old school building.
Dr Sharma also inspected Billawar – Macchedi Road works to be taken up under PMGSY.
Later Dr Sharma convened a public grievance redressal camp at Seroo Badola village of Lower Baggan Panchayat of block Billawar.
The people from Lower Baggan, Upper Baggan and other adjoining areas apprised the minister with their demands and problems. The main demands projected include a CAPD store in the area , lift irrigation scheme for Baggan, expansion of Baggan road under PMGSY, dispensary, electric poles, opening of J&K bank branch and up gradation of High School Upper Baggan
Dr Manohar Lal Sharma gave a patient hearing to the demands of the people and assured them of timely disposal of their problems
The minister said that government has initiated several steps to explore the tourism potential of Billawar and with coming up of Mata Sukrala Devi and Mata Bala Sundri Shrine Boards the development of the area will increase manifold in coming time.Dr Sharma said the scenic
landscapes of Ghatt, Sujjara, Machhedi has huge tourism potential and with the completion of Billawar – Machhedi road steps will be taken to establish tourism infrastructure in these areas.
Responding to the projected demands of the people Dr Manohar Lal Sharma passed instructions to the concerned department to take necessary action in a time bound manner. He directed the PHE department to repair the defunct hand pumps, and to install new hand pumps at Hatt and Seroo Badola. He assured the inhabitants that the demands of Higher Secondary School Baggan will be taken up on priority. He announced 50 electric poles for the area. He also passed instructions to XEN Rural Development to make project for constructing Footbridges in Ghatt, Dhakkiyan and Seroo areas. He also announced Rs 1 lakh for seroo badola for development works.
Dr Shama also announced two New Primary Schools for Dhallian and Oga in Malhar zone.
Panches , Sarpanches, District and Tehsil level officers and large number of people were present on the occasion.
