Jammu, Aug 7 : The much publicized Udhampur fake ration card scam has taken a serious dent. While CAPD department recently furnished full details of fake ration card holders, police claimed that all evidences had been destroyed by the accused. The disclosure of details of fake ration card holders to public by CAPD is raising a serious question mark over the authenticity of Police enquiry, besides it is also vindicating apprehensions of public that the wrong enquiry report was furnished by police, in lieu of some alleged pecuniary benefits from the accused. Documents in possession Early Times reveal that the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department has authenticated, the fake ration cards scam surfaced in the Kotli Pain village. In its reply to an RTI query sought by SHG an NGO, TSO Udhampur under letter number 252-53/TSO/Udr, dated 3-8-2013, admitted that about 80 ration card were made. Verifying record provided by the NGO to TSO with RTI application, the TSO Udhmapur verified that the list of double nation card and deceased persons as provided has been verified and found corrected. "Moreover the name of the out of state beneficiaries is also mentioned in the above noted list and BPL ration card of government employee/ pensioner is also mentioned", the TSO writes in the reply. It is pertinent to mention here that the SIT was constituted by Udhmapur following the fake ration card scam surfaced. In its status report submitted to court, the Udhampur police admitted that the accused ration dealer Joginder Kumar who is also Sarpanch had destroyed evidence against him. |
