| Militancy reviving due to wrong policies of Govt | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 7: With wrong policies of State and Central governments the militancy is gaining a new lease of life in the strife torn state with more and more mercenaries entering the state from across the border and indulging in terrorist killings. According to sources, not only the mercenaries have become active in the State for last quite some months but the local youth are also joining militants ranks to indulge in terrorist activities. The killing of cops at Srinagar over a month back following by attack on a police man in Pulwama township of Pulwama district resulting in his instant death and killing of another cop in Yari Pora town of Kulgam district of South Kashmir during the same period followed by attack on eight army personnel in Hyderpora area of Budgam district over a month back and attack on former Director SKIMS Soura in Pampore resulting in the death of his body guard are the indications that the militancy in State has got a fresh lease of life due to wrong policies of Government, sources added. Sources said the failure of the Government to take up the cross border terrorism with Pakistan forcefully by Union government has been one of the main causes of infiltration from across the border. The change of guard in Pakistan has made no difference as the country continues to support the terrorist activities against India at its ground to create a large scale disturbance and violence in the state of J&K, sources added. Sources while referring to recent militant attacks in Pulwama district, Kulgam and Budgam district said that the terrorists sneaking from across the border in Poonch belt reach Shopian, Kulgam and Pulwama district by crossing the Peer Panchal range and presently the foreign mercenaries are active in these districts. These militants have indulged in killing of security forces or police personnel by using the local youth as their guide or courier. Influenced by their motivating power some youth have rejoined their camps in different parts of the Valley, sources said, adding that over a month back four foreign mercenaries were seen active in Guddar area of Kulgam district and its adjoin hills. Sources said that the main reason for regrouping of militants has been the weak-kneed policies of UPA Government which is being hoodwinked by the State Government on the issue. Stripping of SOG of its powers and removal of security forces from various parts of the militancy infested areas in the State has emboldened the terrorist to re-group an d spread their tentacles once again, sources added. Sources said that in case the Government is interested to weed out terrorism form the State completely it has to give more teeth to SOG and also bring those officers back in militancy combing operations who have played a good role in breaking the back of various terrorist outfits in the Valley. Sources said the people who were earlier active in providing vital information against the militants in the Valley have become inactive now as they fear worst through the hands of terrorists. Till Government will empower the security forces and give more teeth to them in anti terror operations the situation can't change, sources added. Sources said that it was high time for Government to take a decision and take effective measures in combating terrorism otherwise it will be too late and situation will go out of hand. |
