All 5 accused held; vehicles, weapon of offence seized

Jammu, Aug 7 : Jammu police have succeeded in arresting all five accused in the murder of a migrant near Jagti Migrant camp within 36 hours and have also seized the vehicles and weapons used in the commission of offence. Upon receipt of the complaint of the murder, a case FIR No. 249/2013 u/ss 307 (later converted to s. 302 RPC), 364, 34 RPC, 4/25 Arms Act was lodged a Police Station Nagrota and a man hunt immediately launched to nab the accused. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by SDPO Nagrota, Mohammed Khaliq was constituted to investigate the case. On the basis of reliable information, police teams were immediately dispatched to Delhi and Pathankot. During the intervening night of 4-5/8/2013 i.e. within 6 hours of the commission of the offence, two persons namely Chankar Singh @ Ballu R/O ChakBalwal and Atam Singh alias Dimple R/O ChakBalwal were detained for questioning near Pathankot, on the suspicion that these persons had helped the accused persons escape. Based on the inputs provided by Chankar Singh and Atam Singh, a police team was dispatched to Ludhiana, where the three named accused were arrested during the intervening night of 5-6/08/2013. The arrests of all the accused in the case were affected in less than 36 hours from the time of the incident. During the course of the questioning of the main accused the role of Chankar Singh and Atam Singh in the post-incident harboring of the accused and facilitating their escape via Pathankot was established and the duo have been booked under the relevant sections of law and their arrest affected. The weapon of offence, which is an 8-inch long knife and which was hidden by the accused on the Khairi-Jadi Road has also been recovered on the disclosure of the accused. The Mahindra Bolero (JMU-7778) which was used by the accused to kidnap Ankush as well as the i20 (JK20-0032) which was used by Chankar Singh and Atam Singh to facilitate the escape of the accused have also been seized. On 4/08/2013 Nagrota police received a written complaint from ShriAnkush Sharma S/O Late ShriTejNathTalashi R/O Migrant Camp Jagti at about 1900 hrs that while he was taking a walk in the Jagti Migrant Camp along with his late father and uncle, four Mahindra Bolero (Registration Number JMU - 7778) borne persons kidnapped him. Ankush identified three of these persons as Sumit Singh S/O Sham Singh R/O Toll Post Nagrota, Naresh Sharma S/O DwarkaNath R/O Damni , GauravPratap Singh @ Shanki S/O Late VedPrakash R/O PanjGarain. Another person present in the vehicle could not be identified. After beating Ankush in their vehicle for some time, the accused left him. However, the accused were confronted by the father of the complainant TejNathTalashi and his uncle. This led to a scuffle during which Sumit Singh stabbed TejNathTalashi. TejNathTalashi was rushed to GMC, where he breathed his last.
