JAMMU, Aug 7: The introduction of new online booking system for refilling of domestic LPG cylinder by oil companies has become scourge for its customers due to numerous loopholes in it.
Sources told Early Times that online booking system has been started in the state just a month ago without creating awareness among the masses for its use and the procedure to book LPG cylinder is so impractical that customers are suffering a lot. "When I made call on the number given by the oil companies for online booking for refilling LPG cylinder, it got disconnected many times but after five attempts when I succeeded in getting my LPG cylinder booked, I was not informed about the date of delivery also,' they said.
The computerization system for booking was so cumbersome and full of technical faults that customers are being harassed through this new system due to its failure, they added. "Companies are entertaining only those calls for online booking which have been registered on KYC form of the customers as no calls other than registered are being attended by the companies for booking," they further informed that the calls from landline numbers furnished in the form without mentioning the additional digit '2' are also not being accepted.
Customers belonging to rural areas are facing huge difficulties in getting LPG cylinder booked due to lack of awareness among them due to their semiliterate ratio.
"How can a customer get his LPG cylinder booked who has lost or changed his registered number as companies are denying booking from other numbers moreover they not informing about the alternative that how they can registered their new number," an aggrieved customer said.
Companies did not organize awareness campaign for educating their customers for using online booking before switching over to this new procedure of booking, no electronic or print advertisements were published to create awareness among the masses, he said.
