| Rattanpuri's statement pointing fingers at Rana generates heat | | MP has animosity with Rana, says Shariq with advise of 'refrain' | | early times report
Srinagar, Aug 22: Broadcaster turned politician who chose his political career with National Conference GN Rattanpuri's statement, on expected lines, has stirred up the hornet's nest and generated heat well within the party, with rank and file of NC stunned at the brazen accusations against none other than the closest man in the coterie of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Rattanpuri, pointing fingers at Devinder Singh Rana, albeit without naming him directly had said that at least one leader within NC ranks are 'hands in-glove' with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bajrang Dal.
Apparently, in order to do some damage control bid, a day after this statement came, Member Parliament and National Conference senior leader Sharief-u-Din Shariq today advised Ratanpuri to refrain from issuing 'irresponsible' statements. Shariq however did some prickly talk and stated that Rattanpuri has personal animosity with Devinder Singh Rana.
"How is it possible that National Conference, which believes in religious harmony, would encourage communal forces and join ranks of BJP and RSS. Ratanpuri has some personal animosity with Davinder Singh Rana….. and it is this animosity, which makes him issue 'irresponsible' statements against the party….," Shariq said adding that Ratanpuri is acting like a child. He said that the basic reason why Omar Abdullah distanced himself from Ratanpuri is that he (Ratanpuri) is having personal animosity with former advisor to CM, Davinder Singh Rana. "Ratanpuri is my colleague and friend but I suggest him not to make any statement which defames our party," he said.
Reacting sharply to what Shariq said, Rattanpuri , who is also Member Parliament (Rajya Sabha) refuted the allegations of having personal animosity with NC Provincial President, Jammu, Devinder Singh Rana. He further said that everybody in that party knows that he has nothing personal against anyone.
When asked to comment on the statement issued by Shariq, Ratanpuri told Early Times that he will react to the allegations leveled by his colleague tomorrow but added that he has nothing personal against anybody in the party and Shariq knows it very well.
He, however, said that nobody can stop him from speaking truth and the statement issued by him the other day was based on truth. Ratanpuri said that he will come up with a comprehensive statement tomorrow and will put the facts before the public. |
