| BJP smells conspiracy to trigger migration of minorities | | Beneath claims of restoration of peace in Kishtwar | | early times report Jammu, Aug 22: A day after All Party Delegation led by Minister for Medical Education Taj Mohiudin claimed to have successfully brokered peace in violence hit Kishtwar, BJP has deflated the inflated claims by saying that trust deficit remained amongst the people. Leader of BJP Legislative Party and National Executive Member Dr Nirmal Singh, who had gone to Kishtwar as part of all party delegation today said that there was huge gulf of mistrust between the two communities that needed to be addressed. In a statement a spokesperson of the BJP said the two leaders held separate meetings with the prominent citizens of the both the communities and managed to bring them at dialogue table. "There was consensus that the constitution of judicial inquiry cannot be effective and instead the CBI should be approached to investigate riots. Though calm to some extent has returned but the minorities in Kishtwar continue to reel under a sense of deep insecurity. The fire of August 9 that engulfed Kishtwar, it appears, was stoked by DIG of the district, who deliberately failed to take effective steps to check the violence at the initial stage when stray incidents of stone throwing, appearance of anti-national posters and slogans started last month and culminated in the present situation resulting in causalities and destruction of the minorities' properties worth crores," they alleged. "Recent violence in Kishtwar is part of larger conspiracy and it has been even been endorsed by the State Chief Minister and his ministers. Hence, it needs to be thoroughly investigated to unravel the deep conspiracy behind it and nab the real culprits. Two days ago, the DIG named Varinder Kumar, the PSO of BJP senior leader Sunil Sharma, as being the master mind to give a totally different turn to the incident and later on withdrew allegation against him," they said adding that actually it was not a fight between the two communities but it 'was unprovoked violent attack by the miscreants and criminal elements of majority community on the minority of the district.' The BJP leaders said that the party stands with the people of Kishtwar and urged upon the government to concede the two main demands of minorities if it wants to restore their faith in the administration and prevent their onset of migration. Demanding full compensation for the losses of shops and other business establishments, the BJP leaders claimed that the hapless minorities of Kishtwar have been targeted from time to time and the successive governments did not deem it necessary to compensate them. They said that minorities of Kishtwar suffered damage to their 45 shops in 1993, 34 shops were put to arson in 1998 and in 2003 again minorities suffered damages to their 55 shops. |
