Notwithstanding the teemondoius potential of the erstwhile Doda district to produce thousands of mWS of power, the Institute shall be established in Ganderbal distrcit for purely political reasons. Ganderbal, it may be mentioned, happens to be the constituency of the Chief Minister. The power projects in Chenab Valley have cause inconvenience and loss to people. But insted of compensating them, they have been left high and dry, complained the residents. The institute could have offered the much needed solace to thje people but for petty politics, the project has been given to Ganderbal district. This institute will have professional teachers of NHPC and will be providing special training to youth. The NHPC will bear entire cost of the institute with respect to building infrastructure, installing equipments and other necessary things. "The 20 percent staff will be provided by NHPC and other staff will be provided by J&K Power Development Corporation (JKPDC)," said a NHPC official. Sources in the government said that people at helm of the affair have managed to get this institute to valley and derived people of Chenab valley of right which they deserve more than any body else. This is the time for people of Jammu region in general and Chenab valley in particular to raise the issue and get back what is their right. |
