As Mir Refuses to quit, BJP, AIP urge CM to resign | | | Javaid Naikoo SRINAGAR, Sept 23: As the agriculture Minister, Ghulam Hassan Mir refused to resign, the BJP and the Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) have urged the Chief Minister to quit for his helplessness. The minister for agriculture Ghulam Hassan mir who is in news from last four days in connection with his alleged involvement in toppling the Jammu and Kashmir government, today refused to resign saying he does not know about the source of news that surfaced four days ago and he feels no pressure from any political circle to resign voluntarily. Mir said that he has no plans to resign from his cabinet and added he is busy in attending the meetings associated with his portfolio instead of caring about such news reports based on rumors of social networking sites. However BJP and AIP alike said that the chief Minister must resign for his helplessness if he fails to show the door to Mir. Talking to Early Times AIP chairman, Engineer Rashid said that the helplessness of the chief minister of a state can be understood from the fact that a cabinet rank minister who is accused of toppling the government is still enjoying the rank of cabinet ministry and Chief Minister along with all the office bearers of coalition government are mum and helpless. Criticizing the stand taken by the state office bearers in connection with the requisite action against tainted agriculture Minister,BJP state secretary,Sofi Yousuf said that because of Congress high command intervention in the matter nobody in the coalition government is actually in a position to seek resignation from Ghulam Hassan Mir. He said that Congress high command is currently in a process to gain public support at least in some states like Jammu and Kashmir and does not want to invite trouble for the party. He added when Chief Minister cannot go for an inquiry into the matter through CBI and feels helplessness, he must quit. Sofi said that Ghulam Hassan Mir actually belongs to a lobby of politicians of the state which is in close contacts with the Congress high command and are likely to either join state Congress in near future or support the Congress party. |
