| Rao seeks Azad's intervention in resolving issue of Kahara-Jai road project | | | early times report Jammu, Sept 23: President Tehsil Thathri Development Kuldeep Kumar Rao appealed to Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad for his personal intervention in resolving the issue of Kahara-Jai road project. Rao said that the survey of Kahara-Jai road was conducted long back in 1987 from Jai side to Kahara but it remained confined to papers only till 2007. "But Azad took the matter seriously in 2007 when he was Chief. It was with his kind and tireless efforts that the project was sanctioned for Kahara- Jai road up to Joura (Ph-Ist) length 16 kms, amounting to Rs 2184 lacs and amounting to Rs 1660 been utilized in the ending March 2012," he said. "But after the exit of Azad from the state politics, the original survey of 1987 which was upheld by ERA and also the initial survey of 2007 by R&B Division Gandoh, was grossly violated by local engineers by misleading their own higher officers just to benefit a few individuals. This violation has been done in a cunning and audacious manner," he alleged. "The local engineers have developed a nexus and went ahead with changing of survey from opposite side in phase-II in 2011 i.e Jai to Joura Khurd causing huge loss to the environment at a steep angle to the extent of 60 degree primarily to give connectivity to one village Joura Khurd at the cost of about 3000 population of villages Joura Kalan, Budhi, Suranga, Kunthal and Lower Shamdlian." Surprisingly, he said, on the same said road project Phase -III was taken up in 2012 through PMGSY from Hallaran to Joura Khurd giving an impression to the locals that it is a separate Project of PMGSY from Kahara to Joura Khurd. Getting aggrieved the public approached High Court which directed Chief Secretary to constitute high level committee to look into the grievances of the public. Unfortunately, the framed committee relied on the reports of the members of lower functionaries who were responsible for mess. |
