Jammu, Sept 27: On the Call of Bhartiya Janta Party, Jammu has observed complete shut down on Friday to express their resentment over the killing of 10 people including Police and Army personnel on Thursday at Hiranagar and Samba. The main markets of the city remained closed and all the commercial vehicles remained off the road throughout the day. People have voluntarily closed their shops and establishments to show resentment against the twin attack. The Transporters have also extended their support in the call of Jammu Bandh. The Security has been beefed up in the entire city after the terrorist attack at Hiranagar and Samba on Thursday in which 10 person, including a lieutenant Colonel were killed. Extra police has been deployed at all the roads, chowks and markets of the city. "I feel that some more deployment of security agencies is required in the state, especially in the border areas. The politicians who always ask for removal of 'Armed Forces Special Power Act' (AFSPA) should see these kinds of incidents are still happening, who will save our borders if we remove army and their powers from the state," said Sunil Gupta, a teacher by profession. "I think there must be some more terrorists who have infiltrated with these three militants, if three terrorists can infiltrate then others can also infiltrate. Security should be full proofed at the border to avoid any such militant attack in future," he added. Members of some political parties including social and business organization have supported the call given by BJP for Jammu Bandh.BJP and other organizations also staged protest demonstration at different places of the city and burned the effigies of the UPA government and Pakistan. BJP leaders and party activists held a massive protest followed by burning of the effigies of Pakistan and UPA government. There was no report of any untoward incident in Jammu region and the bandh in all the districts was peaceful. |
