| Talks between Cabinet Sub Committee, JCC leaders end in deadlock | | Fresh phase of agitation from October 1 | | Jehangir Rashid SRINAGAR, Sept 27: Following failure of their talks with the state government over their demands the Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) today gave a call for fresh phase of agitation starting from October 1. The agitation includes pen down strike for two days on October 4 and 5. Sharing details with Early Times, Pir Nisar Ahmad, Press Secretary JCC said that Cabinet Sub Committee (CSC) headed by Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather failed to meet any agreement with the JCC leaders during their meeting. Nisar said the CSC adopted a cold shoulder towards the genuine demands of employees and as such the JCC was forced to call for a fresh phase of agitation. "The CSC wanted time up to ending December 2013 in order to take any call on the enhancement of retirement age. This was rejected by the JCC leaders and they wanted the government to take a decision by Eid-ul-Azha and the same was not accepted by the CSC. There was a deadlock on this demand of the government employees and there was no forward movement," said Nisar. Referring to demand of regularization of daily wagers and consolidated workers, Press Secretary JCC said the CSC expressed its inability to issue an order at present. He said the CSC demanded that they should be given one month's time so that a proper policy is framed for the regularization of daily wagers, consolidated and daily rated workers. "As far as removal of pay anomalies is concerned the CSC demanded that they should be given time up to December 31, 2013 for taking any decision on this demand. This too was rejected by the JCC leaders and as such there was stalemate on this demand as well. The CSC wanted to back track from the agreement signed with the government employees and they wanted to keep the JCC leaders guessing," said Nisar. The Press Secretary JCC said that on October 1 the JCC leaders under leadership of Abdul Qayoom Wani would protest outside Civil Secretariat while as inside the Civil Secretariat the protests would be led by JCC Convener, Rauf Ahmad Bhat. He said in Jammu protests would be held outside the office of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu. "On October 2 the employees would gather at Sher-i-Kashmir Park and carry out evening march towards the residence of Chief Minister. On the same day evening protests would be carried out at the Civil Secretariat and Jammu as well. On October 3 the employees would gather at the Sher-i-Kashmir Park and march towards the legislative assembly in order to raise their demands," said Nisar. Nisar said that all the employees would observe two days pen down strike on October 4 and 5 adding that examinations would be exempted from the strike. He said the employees would launch result oriented agitation in support of their demands since these are just and pending for a long time. He said the state government should implement the agreement reached out with the JCC leaders two years back on September 15, 2011. |
