| Drug peddler held with intoxicant drugs | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 27: As a part of drive against drug peddlers to curb smuggling of drugs, Railway Police today claimed achieved a major success by seizing a huge quantity of psychotropic drugs and cough syrups corex (trade name) with the arrest of one drug peddler involved in smuggling the drugs among the youth in adjoining areas of the district. "The accused has been identified as Mohd Taqveer of Rajouri district, police said. Reports said that following a specific input the team of GRP laid a special naka to nab the drug peddler. During naka the police party intercepted a suspected person who failed to give satisfactorily replies to police questioning further making police suspicious about his activities, police said. Thereafter police team searched his belongings and recovered 174 corex bottles (a prescription drug) and 280 capsules Proxivan (trade name) from his possession. Here it needs to mention that the two drugs have been banned in open market as these have sedative effect and thus have been put under prescription drugs. A case FIR No FIR 16/13 under sec 8/21/22 NDPS Act stands registered at concerned police station while further investigations are on in this regard. |
