Rajouri, Sept 27: Expressing concern over failure of the present dispensation to carry forward the agenda of peace and development in the State, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today reiterated commitment of the party to fulfill aspirations and wishes of all regions and sub-regions of the State.
Addressing a public meeting at Rajouri, PDP candidate for Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha segment Yash Pal Sharma said party has pioneered the agenda of peace and development in the State to establish sustainable peace in Poonch and Rajouri regions.
Accrediting party leadership for bringing a change in system, he said that agenda pioneered and adopted by the PDP had given encouraging result during the tenure of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed but the present government headed by Omar Abdullah has miserably failed to carry forward this agenda.
PDP leader Sharma asserted that biggest achievement of the previous regime headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was creating conducive atmosphere for initiating peace process and taking Confidence Building Measures (CBMs). He also accredited the party achievements including opening of crossing points on Line of Control and cross LoC trade in border district of Poonch and etc to restore faith of people and to bring peace and tranquility. Sharma also said that opening of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University during the tenure of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was also a historical step for Rajouri district.
Senior leaders of Rajouri districts and from Jammu who accompanied their leader also addressed the public meeting attended by large number of Panches and Sarpanches and prominent citizens of area.
