| Educational tour flagged off | | | | Kathua, Dec 3 : The Gurj Division today flagged off Shiksha Abhiyan - an Educational Tour to North India for the students of remote schools of Bani and Machhedi from Dec 2 to 19 2013. The education tour was organized as a part of its multifarious outreach programme to spearhead developmental, welfare and capacity building activities for the local communities in remote corners of Bani and Billawar Tehsil of Kathua district. The aim of SHIKSHA ABHIYAN is to expose the young citizens to the rich, vivid and vibrant heritage of the nation, besides show casing the strides made towards becoming a developed nation. The tour provides an excellent opportunity to the young students to broaden their horizon and help them in getting enmeshed with the national mainstream. During the flagging off ceremony, Commanding Officer of Bani-Machhedi Battalion interacted with the selected students, school teachers and officials of civil administration. The Commanding Officer congratulated the students for their selection and lauded the confidence displayed by their parents for sending their children on this educational tour. |
