| BSF celebrates raising day | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 4: 49th raising day was celebrated by the BSF at sector HQs at Rajouri today to felicitate widows of BSF martyrs and retired personnel from Rajouri district. All widows of BSF martyrs who laid down their lives for the integrity of the country, their children were invited along with retired BSF personnel to grace the occasion. R. S.Kataria, DIG, Sector BSF Rajour who presided over the function also interacted with them and promised to mitigate the problems being faced by them. He said that BSF authorities has already launched several schemes for them as well as for their wards which includes admission to the wards of widows in not only BSF schools but also in professional institutes run at various locations by BSF. Chief Guest also assured all possible help from BSF to widows and retired BSF personnel. On this occasion V T Kayarkar, Commandant 138 Bn BSF welcomed all the invited Guests and praised the contribution of retired BSF personnel in the growth of organisation. DIG paid tribute to the BSF martyrs who scarified their life for the sake of country while slogging on the border and LC, combating terrorism. DIG also boosted the morale of the troops discharging their duties with high degree of alertness on the western Frontier. On this occasion, a cultural competition programme was organized by the students of Ankur Play School BSF, Kendriya Vidyalya, DPS and Army Goodwill Public School Sports competitions of cricket, volleyball for boys and Kho-Kho for girls were also organized in the preceding week in the chain of BSF Raising day celebrations. AGPS won the cricket and volleyball and overall cultural competition trophy and KV won the Kho-Kho trophy. Quality of the cultural programme presented by the schools was of high standard and clearly depicted the dedication and hard work put in by the students as well as their teachers. DIG BSF Raj Singh Kataria DIG, PPMS distributed the trophies and prizes to the winners and runners up teams in the above said competitions. Principals of these schools were also present on this occasion and praised the performance of their students in the competitions |
