| GCW Udhampur celebrates international volunteer day | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 4: NSS units of Government College Women (GCW) Udhampur today celebrated International Volunteers Day. Programme started with lighting of traditional lamp and presentation of NSS song. Dr. Mool Raj welcomed the guests. Day long celebration included awareness lecture, extempore speech, and cleanliness drive. Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr. Yudhvir Singh, Principal, Govt. College for Women, Udhampur who appreciated the nature of voluntarism among young NSS volunteers to serve the society to make it a better place to live in and have harmonious co-existence. Dr. Mool Raj, HOD Urdu delivered lecture on the importance of NSS in creating more awareness among the students who are microcosm of the macrocosmic humanity at large. Prof. Sanketa Kesar lectured the students about the various environmental hazards facing us and need to save environment. Dr. Shalini Sharma spoke about the massive initiatives taken up by government and NGO's to create awareness about the dangers ecological imbalance can have on the world. The cleanliness drive was also carried out in the college premises, where in the NSS volunteers set an example by voluntarily picking up all the litter and setting an example for non-NSS volunteers. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Shalini Sharma. NSS volunteer Sakshi of B.A Part-III, Priya of B.A-III also spoke on the occasion.
