| Court awards 2 years RI to two CRPF officials for accepting bribe | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 4 (JNF): Special Judge Anticorruption (CBI Cases) J&K Court Jammu Kaneez Fatima today awarded two years rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 10,000 each to Krishan Kumar and Baleshwar Panday of CRPF who were caught red-handed by the CBI team on September 17, 2005 while accepting bribe Rs 20000 from the complainant for selecting him in CRPF as constable. According to the CBI Case that on September 17, 2005 one Yog Raj lodged a written complaint with CBI alleging therein that the accused Krishan Kumar and Baleshwar Panday in conspiracy with each other demanded illegal gratification of Rs 20,000 as an advance out of total demand of Rs 60,000 from him in consideration of getting him selected in CRPF as constable. On this CBI registered FIR and constituted a trap team and caught red-handed both the accused while accepting bribe and after completion of investigation challan was presented in the Court. Special Judge Anticorruption (CBI Cases) J&K Court Jammu Kaneez Fatima after hearing SK Bhat Senior Public Prosecutor for the CBI whereas Advocates OP Sharma and KK Sharma for the accused persons observed that the prosecution has succeeded in establishing demand of bribe by the accused persons initially and at the time of trap and acceptance and of bribe amount and awarded two years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 10000 on each count and directed that the amount of fine be deposited within 20 days from today failing which the same shall be realized from the estates of the accused person and sent the accused in District Jail for serving the sentence. |
