Jammu, Dec 14: Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India is going to organise the first ever classical dance in Jammu in the form of a 'Kathak Dance Recital' on December 16 at Police Auditorium. Featuring prominent dancer, Priya Dutta and her group, this programme is aimed at reviving and rejuvenating the age-old classical traditions of India. Professionally trained, Masters in Kathak, Priya has many National laurels to her credit. Sharing his concerns about the poor fate and state of the classical art traditions in the state of Jammu & Kashmir, the Regional Director of ICCR Jammu, Balwant Thakur said that through this programme an attempt is being made to fill the gaps and hoped that this recital will inspire others to take required steps to revive the age-old classical traditional arts. Balwant Thakur said that we must take pride in our classical arts and there has to have a public movement in the larger interest of the revival of the great arts of the country. He invited all the art lovers to witness this wonderful performance and encourage the initiatives of ICCR in reviving the cultural life of the region. Regional Director ICCR assured that this is going to be a great feast for the lovers of Kathak. The programme will feature Jhap Taal, Teen Taal, Chalas, Tukra, Paran, Kavit and Paltas. |
