| Symposium on "Free & Compulsory Education Act" conducted | | | ET REPORT JAMMU, Dec 14: A symposium on the topic "Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act" was conducted in Government Sri Ranbir Higher Secondary School Parade, here today. Additional Secretary, School Education Department R A Inquallabi, was the chief guest and H.R. Pakhroo, Joint Director (TRG)/Principal SIE, Jammu was the guest of honour. The chief Guest R A Inquallabi and the Guest of Honour H.R Pakhroo were welcomed by the Principal J S Manhas along with the staff of the institution by presenting the bouquet. H.R. Pakhroo while inaugurating the Symposium laid stress on the teaching faculty that the future of the nation is in their hands. While speaking on the occasion, J.S. Manhas, Principal of Ranbir Hr Sec School said that the RTE Act is the first legislation in the world that puts the responsibility of ensuring enrollment, attendance and completion on the Government. The speakers on the occasion said that the Right to Education act is an historic bill approved by the cabinet on July 2009 and was notified as law on 26th August 2009 as "The Children's Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act". The law came into effect in whole of India from April 1, 2010 except the state of Jammu and Kashmir. |
