| LMD takes action against LPG dealer for not providing home delivery | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 14: Acting on the complaints of residents of Channi Himmat, Greater Kailash and Sainik Colony area, Legal Metrology Department (LMD) today conducted inspection of LPG dealer at Channi Himmat and found long queue of people struggling to get a cylinder. Despite directions from the Ministry of Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution, J&K Government and guidelines issued from the respective oil companies to make 100% home delivery to all the consumers, it was found that few dealers are still making spot deliveries on load carriers causing harassment to the consumers, as they have to travel from different areas and waste time to reach the spot. The dealer at his will and whim was selling only 45 cylinders to the long queue of consumers, who complained that they have to take half day leave from their offices to get their cylinders filled and even they are not refunded Rs 15 back which they are entitled to get back as the home delivery was not made available to them. According to Deputy Controller Legal Metrology Consumer Protection, all the vouchers were retained and the matter was brought to the knowledge of higher authorities. As per instructions, the State level coordinator was asked to take punitive action and ensure that consumers must get 100% home delivery. |
