| Bus Stand traders hail HC directions for 'regulating traffic' | | | Jammu, Dec 14: Bus Stand Action Committee in a meeting chaired by its Chairman Inderjeet Khajuria has welcomed the directions issued by the Double Bench of High Court while hearing a PIL seeking regulation of traffic over menace of frequent traffic jams in Jammu city. Traders hails the court directions in which High Court has ordered to all the SHOs of Jammu city to ensure that there is no encroachment and no vehicle operates without complying with norms of pollution emission, besides further directed SHOs to ensure that there is no traffic jam in their respective jurisdiction including at flyover near Bus stand Jammu. Hailing the court directions the Chairman sought to clarify that the existing Bus stand at BC Road Jammu has sufficient area measuring about 70 Kanals to cater the traffic requirements of terminal point of all root buses including Interstate Bus stand. Elaborating further the Chairman explained the main factors responsible for collective pollution and jams due to workshops, parking of idle buses, encroachments and unplanned constructions, loading/unloading of goods in Buses as well as load carriers inside the premises of the bus stand. Chairman and other speakers also demanded immediate implementation of Rs 77 Crore project by the JDA, for the beautification of Bus stand with provision of parking lots and a shopping complex. Present in the meeting included Madhu Sharma, Rajinder Tak, Pawan Gupta,Ajay Gupta, Rajinder Sharma, Mohanlal Gupta, Ajay Gupta, Gurdarshansingh, Kuldeep Wahi and ML Sharma.
