| 8 killed,6 injured in different road mishaps | | | ET report
Jammu, Dec 14 : Eight persons were killed and six others injured in separate road mishaps at different places since last night, police said today. Police spokesman said that in an accident on Mansar-Samba road in Samba district today, three persons were killed and two received injuries when a bus bearing registration number JK14-4311 collided with a minibus bearing registration number JK14B-5762, a police officer said. The accident took place near Shah Balode near District Police Lines DPL Samba at around 9:30 am. After getting the information locals and police immediately reached the spot and shifted the injured to District Hospital where three persons were declared as brought dead.
The deceased have been identified as Kewal Singh son of Amar Singh of Balode, Krishan Chand son of Gouri Shankar of Mananu Samba while identification of third could not be established while injured have been identified as Kaku Ram (27) son of Sindoor Singh resident of village Channi Mansar and Divya (20) daughter of Ramesh Singh resident of village Battal. Police said that drivers of both vehicles managed to flee from the spot. In another mishap, a 26 year-old person died on the spot when a bus hit him on a flyover in Jammu city today. Police said the body had been shifted to the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital mortuary for identification legal formalities. The identity of the deceased has been established as Vicky Kumar son of Sat Paul of village Makwal in Phallian Mandaal. Meanwhile, two brothers were killed and three others of a family were injured when a truck in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in Bishnah belt of Jammu district late last night, police said. Police said that the family was returning home in a truck bearing registration umber JK02T-3690 after attending a marriage function. While reaching near Kheri, the driver lost control over the vehicle resulting in rolled down on the road. According to police, they received a call on Friday late night, following which a team was rushed to the spot. The deceased have been identified as Vijay Kumar, Son of Tulsi Dass (45) and Shuk Dev (35), both residents of village Shiyan Chak in Miran Sahib. Meanwhile, a youth riding a motorcycle was killed and the pillion rider received injuries when the motorcycle was hit by an unknown vehicle at Messar in Samba. The deceased has been identified as Sandeep Padha son of Jagmohan Padha and injured have been identified as Mohan Lal both residents of Dayani. After that, a road accident victim undergoing treatment at GMC&H after being hit by a minibus today succumbed to injuries.The deceased has been identified as Savitri Devi wife of Lakha ram of Chhattisgarh presently at Domana. Police said that Friday afternoon she was hit b y a minibus and today during treatment she failed to respond the treatment. In Udhampur area, a person received injuries when the car he was driving plunged into a deep gorge. The injured have been identified as Sunny Kumar (25) year son of Surinder Kumar resident of Kotali Pain Udhampur. Police said that he was driving the car bearing registration number CH04A-9631while reaching near Chinar near Kargil Park, the driver lost the control over the vehicle resulting the car rolled down in a deep gorge. Later, he was hospitalized. |
