| Will Rahul Gandhi visit Kishtwar also? | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 26: Vice president of All India Congress Committee (AICC) has done a commendable job by visiting relief camps of Muzaffarnagar riots and exposed "secular" Akhilesh Yadav Government but victims of infamous Kishtwar riots are still waiting for the VIP visit so that their woes could also be highlighted at national level. More than four months have been passed but authorities have failed to release compensation for the businessmen who lost their every thing in August 6 riots. Families of Arvind Kumar, who was killed during the violence and other victims, are waiting for justice but nothing has been done so far. Patience of Kishtwar riot victims is running out. According to a rough estimate minority business community had incurred losses of a total Rs 80 crore in the clashes. Such clashes are not a new thing for us. Such riots took place in 1993, 1998, 2003 and 2008, but they were of a lesser magnitude. Over 150 small and big business establishments were affected in the clashes during these years and minority community is worst affected. In the latest riots which took place in the month of August, a total of 68 shops, 7 hotels and 35 vehicles were damaged in the recent violence which also led to three casualties. After the Kishtwar riots, the State Government had announced that immediate relief would be provided to all the victims but nothing has been done so far. Instead of providing compensation to the affected families to re-start their earning, authorities are still engage in assessing the losses. As no VIP like Rahul Gandhi has visited Kishtwar so voices of affected families still remain unheard. The BJP, which was in the fore-front of raking up Kishtwar riots, too failed to effectively take up this issue at state and national levels. Local BJP leadership has failed to effectively project demands of affected families before the national leaders. Important to mention here that Rahul Gandhi on Sunday had visited relief camps of Muzaffarnagar riots. He visited Mallackpur camps in Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh along with party leaders Madhusudan Mistry and RPN Singh. |
