| Congress, NC Ministers express differences over key issues | | Cabinet meet witnesses 'verbal duel' | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 31: In what can be seen as the two allies of the coalition government Congress and National Conference coming to fore, Omar Abdullah led cabinet today saw differences over some issues expressed by ministers from both the camps. It is for the first time that ministers from both the parties asserted on the key issues that were to be discussed as agenda in the meeting held here today in the Secretariat premises. Sources said while the Congress camp put its foot down in government making delay in incorporating 73rd constitutional amendment in the state law, a demand which Congress has been raising for along time and on which the high command has also asserted lately, NC expressed concern over some other issue, equally important in the state's political scenario. Sources said NC expressed concern over delay in cabinet sub committee's final assessment and views on the report presented by Ganai panel on new administrative units on which the members had earlier expressed reservations. Sources also said while the difference of opinion came up on both the issues from the two camps almost in diagonally opposed manner, both were firm on their stands with respect to issues. Sources also said that Congress also asserted that Justice Gandhi Commission report on Kishtwar violence be presented and made public formally without further delay. Justice Gandhi panel has already presented its interim report to GAD. |
