Protest held against PHE for unhygienic water in Ramnagar

Udhampur, Jan 4 : Locals in RamNagar protest against PHE department for supplying unsafe water and also blocked Ramnagar - Udhampur road for one hour to register their resentment against department.
Raising slogans against PHE department and state government, the locals alleged that the department is supplying them contaminated water due to some children also have reportedly been affected with intestinal problems. They alleged that Ramnagar where the maximum number of people became victims of diarrhea had been drinking water mixed with mud for the several months.
One of the protestors Rakesh Gupta said that the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department has laid pipes in almost all areas to provide potable water, but the scheme seems to have been implemented only on paper. Citing affects of the unsafe water, he said that four children namely Sakshi, Saksham, Harshita and Hardeep have been admitted to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Ram Nagar for troubled stomach. Among others who addressed the protestors were Sanjay Kumar, Varun Gupta, Ram Kumar, Bushan Kumar and Makhan Lal.
