| Infighting in "disciplined" BJP getting murkier over mandates for Lok Sabha seats | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 4: Infighting in the state unit of "disciplined" BJP has intensified as large number of leaders have been staking claims on two Parliamentary seats of Jammu province. During the visit of BJP national general secretary Ram Lal, who was in Jammu for the last three days, a large number of BJP leaders staked their claims on Lok Sabha seats. BJP leaders not only presented themselves as winnable candidates but they also "exposed" others before the visiting leader. Infighting in the disciplined party getting murkier with every passing days and "dedicated" and "committed" leaders using every opportunity and platform to expose their rivals in the party. Sources in the BJP said that claimants of Lok Sabha seats are not only exposing party leaders before central leaders but they are also exposing each other in public. "After heavy turn out in party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's Lalkar rally at Jammu on December 1, there is feeling among BJP leaders that Lok Sabha elections would be chalk walk for the party so every Tom, Dick and Harry is claiming himself as winnable candidate", sources said and added that even some leaders who have not contested Panchayat elections in their life are also projecting themselves as strong candidate. Sources in the BJP said that more than 10 leaders have been staking their claims on Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat. Some of the leaders are also trying to exploit their family relations with a senior party leader to stake claims on Lok Sabha seat. Similarly half a dozen "strong" leaders are also claiming for Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat. |
