| 69 stranded passengers from Marwah, Kishtwar airlifted | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Jan 4 : Indian Air Force choppers today airlifted 69 stranded passengers who had trapped due to heavy snowfall in Marwah and Kishtwar. According to official spokesman, the IAF chopper airlifted 46 stranded passengers including patients from Navapachi Marwah who were stranded at Marwah due to one or other reasons, beside airlifting 46 stranded passengers from Marwah, IAF choppers also airlift 23 stranded passengers including children's, elderly persons and women from Kishtwar to Marwah. Among the 69 stranded passengers, few are the students who have to appear in various examinations. It is worthwhile to mention that like in many parts of the state, Kishtwar District has also witness heavy snowfall as a result of which the normal life in entire District has come to halt and areas like Marwah of the District is worst affected area since the area has no road link and under normal circumstance, it took two days to a person to reach Marwah by foot. During the course of the winter the areas of Kishtwar District like Marwah, Warwan, Dachhan and Machail remains cut off from rest of the state and the people mostly depends on army help in terms of airlifting of people as well as the patients. Only last week IAF chopper airlifted critical patients from Marwah and also from a Machail village which is considered as most difficult area of the District situated at the height of over 12500 feet above the sea level. |
