Kishtwar, Jan 4 : Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Kishtwar Sudarshan Kumar along with officials of PHE Department Kishtwar conduct the tour of Naigard village in Nagsini area of the the District to check the pace of work on Rs. 65 Crore Naigard Water Supply Scheme. As per the details available with "Early Times", ACR Kishtwar also ordered for final acquisition of 10 kanal of land for construction of water storage plant at Naigard for smooth supply of drinking water to Kishtwar town and its vicinity having population of over one lac. During the course of his visit, ACR Kishtwar informed the people that the process of land acquisition will be completed by the end of March this year and added that the land owners will get compensation within next three months. He also conducted the survey of 1.3 KM approach road upto the project site. He directed the executing agency to take over the possession of the land and start the work on this prestigious water supply scheme that can bring an end to the water woes in Kishtwar District. It is pertinent to mention that the Rs. 65 Cr Naigard Water Supply Scheme is 2nd water supply sanctioned by the government of Jammu and Kashmir in addition to the existing 8 inch diameter water supply scheme, but due to nexus within the PHE department most of the water supplied to Kishtwar District through this 32 KM long water pipe was sold for agricultural and commercial purpose by the staff of the department as a result of which people of Kishtwar were suffering every year. Under this project, the government is contemplating construction of over head water tanks in all wards of Municipal Committee Kishtwar; beside in peripheral area of the town so as to improve the water storage as well as water distribution system. The state government has already awarded the contract to a Hyderabad based company for execution. |
