Kathua, Jan 4 : Sikh Community has appealed to all the people of all the religions to join Guru Govind Singh Ji's birth anniversary which is to be celebrated on January 7, 2014 at Kathua. Addressing a press conference here today, Sardar Manohar Singh who was accompanied by S. Amarpal Singh, S. Surinder Singh, Hair Singh, Jagbir Singh and several others informed that on the occasion a procession would be taken out around the town with singing religious songs in praise of Guru Govind Singh Ji. "A Sword Show would also be demonstrated by the experts", Singh said, adding that GuruJi's birthday sometimes falls either in December or January or even both months in the Gregorian calendar. The annual celebration of the Guru's birthday is based on the Nanakshahi calendar. He further told that Guru Gobind Singh was the son of Guru Tegh Bahadur, who gave his life to protect religious freedom. He succeeded his father when he became a Guru at nine years of age. Guru Gobind Singh's teachings have a big impact not only on Sikhs but also on the every sections of the society. |
