| Lt Gen Chachra for sustaining peace in J&K | | | JAMMU, Jan 4 : Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra today advocated for zero tolerance to Human Right violations and sustaining peace across the state of Jammu and Kashmir irrespective of threats. "On the last leg of his two-day visit to Kashmir, Lt Gen Chachra set an agenda for the Army deployed in Kashmir, for year the 2014," official spokesman here said. He said that the key components of General's deliberations and directions were 'zero tolerance to the human right violations' and 'sustaining peace in the State irrespective of the threats.' He said that the Army Commander emphasised on the zero tolerance to human right violations and exercise of utmost restrain during operations, wherever civilian lives and property are involved. The General also lauded the J&K Police for their role in the successful joint operations with no collateral damage and awarded on the spot Commendation Cards. During his visit, the Army Commander, along with Lt Gen Gurmit Singh, Chinar Corps Commander visited the forward areas and formation headquarters in Kupwara and Baramulla as also in the hinterland. During the visits to the formations deployed on the Line of Control, he was briefed in detail about the winter posture of the counter infiltration grid and also the winter logistics for the forward areas, said the spokesman. He added that his meeting with the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, was very fruitful and issues critical to the futuristic security scenario were also discussed. The Army Commander assured that the people residing in the isolated and inhospitable areas along the Line of Control of all kinds of support by Army during the winters.
